Back to 3A - Oscillations
PIRA index: 3A10.30
Description
A ruler with masses on its end or a solid metal bar demonstrates torsional oscillations.
Equipment
- ruler with adjustable mass positions
- metal bar
- attachment rod and clamp
Instructions
Hang the ruler setup or metal bar from it's center by a solid wire. Twist the bar and release it such that is created torsional oscillations. The period of oscillation can be adjusted by changing the position of the masses on the ruler.
Keywords
rigid pendulum, torsional, oscillation
